On January 26th, Charlene Li, Principal Analyst at Altimeter, spoke to a room packed with marketers and marketing students seeking to understand where to best focus their energies through the ongoing process of adapting to the digital transformation that started for many of us around 2005.
While her talk dove into the specifics of where and how to focus one’s energy, it was refreshing to hear her discuss two areas where marketers have excelled for decades: the customer experience and culture and leadership. We have new ways of reaching these customers and getting real time feedback. This makes our role as marketers more rewarding. Further, leading from the vantage point of providing the best customer experience across all touch points means empowering employees, in turn increasing employee engagement and cross-departmental leadership. Adding an element of delight, we had craft cocktails from Roya Spirit and sandwiches, soup and cookies made with locally sourced ingredients from Ladle and Leaf.
Many thanks to Weber Shandwick for hosting this event. We would also like to thank Golden Gate University for their partnership with the sfAMA.
