Eleven externs participated in the 2023 Cohort of the American Marketing Association San Francisco Chapter Externship Academy. The four month hybrid program provided externs the opportunity to work with a Bay Area based small business to gain real-life marketing experiences focused on growing their marketing and professional skill set. Externs were also able to explore a variety of marketing careers through a series of Skills Academy workshops.

Arete Dance Center based in Los Altos, CA was established in 2012. Altos Women’s Acupuncture Clinic is a third Generation Holistic Asian Medicine clinic based in Los Gatos, California. Arete Dance Center specializes in being a sanctuary for adults wanting to learn to dance in a safe and comfortable environment.

Elizabeth Mitelman
Founder and Lead
Elizabeth is a marketer based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. She works in the technology industry running several marketing programs including webinars, podcasts, events, digital and social media. Over the years, Elizabeth has supported several small businesses including non-profits, CPGs, e-commerce, finance, and other organizations by launching their diverse marketing strategies with limited budgets and resources. Outside of work, Elizabeth started an externship program to support the next generation of young marketers and small businesses in the Bay Area, and serves on the Board of Directors of the American Marketing Association of San Francisco. She also teaches marketing to first time small business owners in the East Bay.
Khushi Arora
Program Lead
Khushi is experienced in paid media, demand generation, and digital marketing. With her natural proficiency in communication and strategic thinking along with a degree in Marketing and Psychology she brings a unique blend of creativity and consumer understanding to every project. Khushi additionally supported the beginning development of the Externship Academy, a program connecting enthusiastic young marketers with small businesses in need and continuous to do so while serving on the AMA SF Board. In her free time she enjoys pushing her creativity by taking part in new activities and creating new experiences with friends and family.
